Old Kingdom Official’s Tomb and Burial Shafts Found at Saqqara
An Egyptian mission excavating west of the Bubasteion necropolis at Saqqara has uncovered the tomb of an Old Kingdom official named Sakhnetio-Btah. The area also contained interconnected burial shafts, human remains, funerary objects and evidence of later reuse.
Residential Complex and Possible Wine Press Found at Memphis
An Egyptian-Chinese archaeological mission has uncovered residential remains, a stone installation that may have been used to make wine, and artefacts near the Temple of Sekhmet at Mit Rahina. The finds document activity in this part of Memphis across periods ranging from the Third Intermediate Period to the Roman era.
Ramesses II Inscription Raises Possibility of Egypt’s Mesn at Tell Abu Saifi
A sandstone lintel found at Tell Abu Saifi in Egypt’s northern Sinai bears the name and titles of Ramesses II and mentions Horus, Lord of the City of Mesn. The reference may link the site to the ancient settlement, but archaeologists say further excavation is needed.
